Flamingo

Craters, lava and a blindingly white field of pumice stone are reminiscent of the volcanic explosions giving birth to the landscape in and around Campo de Piedra Pómez. Here, flamingos inhabiting a red laguna may be the only living creatures to meet.

Campo de Piedra Pómez is located in the Puna, the high altitude plateau in the Argentinian Andes. Elusive has been privileged to access this landscape with the help of Socompa. All images by André Volk.
