Löwenbräu Sommerfest 2015

One more summer is coming to end and the Zurich art scene at Löwenbräu is ready to celebrate its new season opening. This summer party (28th of August, 18:00 – 00:00 o’clock) is on everyone’s agenda. Drinks, delicious food, live music and great art, something for everyone!

Blue chip gallery: Hauser & Wirth, will be showing on their ground floor gallery space a new body of work, from 2001 Turner Prize winner, Martin Creed (living and working both in London, England and the tiny island, Alicudi in Italy). Their second exhibition show (on the second floor) focuses on the Swiss artist Josephson, where mass and volume are key elements, defining the head and torso of the selected sculptures.

Similarly, Eva Presenhuber will present two different exhibitions, on her two gallery spaces at Löwenbräu. For his third solo exhibition, Josh Smith will display new bodies of work, in various dimensions and media. The other exhibition, which I am absolutely thrilled to be visiting is Franz West’s Furniture Works. A catalogue will accompany the exhibition, which has been published by the Franz West Privatstiftung in cooperation with Galerie Eva Presenhuber and the Gagosian Gallery.

The Kunsthalle will exhibit films and cinematic installations, by the duo artists: Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz, as well a selection of films by German moviemaker and artist Loretta Fahrenholz.

Duo Korean artists MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho will transform the Migros Museum into a place of interaction and communication. Their artistic practice deals with concerns to political, socioeconomic, and ecological changes.

Surprisingly, Bob van Orsouw has announced that the gallery will be on sabbatical for the following year. His exhibitions will be missed.

DON’T miss: LUMA WESTBAU, Galerie Francesca Pia, Galerie Freymond Guth, Galerie Gregor Staiger, Grieder Contemporary and Parkett Ausstellungsraum.

I am looking forward to be enjoying a drink at the terrace and exchange impressions and ideas on these exciting shows!
