When you think of Steve McCurry one image comes to your mind, the Afghan Girl. But this collaboration between the “Museum für Gestaltung Zurich” and Magnum Photos brings together many works, that have never been exhibited before. Unfolding stories from the East, stories dating from 1979; when a young McCurry first started publishing his photographs at the German GEO Magazine. His photographs narrate the stories of its protagonists, showing their struggles and everyday life, sometimes still, absorbed in thoughts, other times in great movement.
There is also a 28′ Minute video of the director of Museum für Gestaltung, Christian Bändle, in conversation with Steve McCurry, discussing the stories behind the lens of those classic images.
